[pct-l] charity

Perhaps people who like to help charities DO do so whenever they can and even when they can't (including donating to the PCTA), but see this as yet another way to do something nice for someone else.

One aspect troubles me, especially prevelant in the _____-a-thon (skate, ski, swim, bowl, bike you name it) arena. How much better for people for people who wish to help a cause to actually do so, rather than do what they like & have others "pay" for it. Biuld a house, serve at a soup kitchen, hand out coats & blankets, teach English as a second language, clean up a park or trail, volunteer at a shelter, be a big brother/sister/mentor............
