[pct-l] Re: Scott Williamson? Done?

For the past few years, Scott has had his own tree business in the Santa Cruz area, a very dangerous and physical line of work. Previously he has worked in construction of various sorts. He has worked to fund his hikes, working through the winter months, living frugally, and saving for his hikes.

Like Billy Goat said in Scott Herriott's movie "Walk," (loosely quoted) "Anyone can save up $2,000-3,000 to fund a hike. You've got to stay away from mortgages and new cars!"

It is a great achievement that Scott finally finished after all of his
attempts. The weather, the snow levels, his conditioning and his health--all
had to be just about perfect in order to do it. But can anyone tell me what
Scott does when he is not hiking? How can he afford to take six months off
every year to try to yo-yo the PCT? I can hardly find the time to do a
measly section hike.
