Try and get a room in Lee Vining, just east of the Park and about 20-30
minutes from Tuolumne meadows.  You will be more comfortable and your
husband will appreciate a shower and a good restaurant meal.  A good
restaurant is in a converted gas station at the intersection of Hwys 395
and 120.  The chef there is actually a chef who got sick of the rat race
but not the cooking.  Another plus is the view of Mono Lake.
