I agree that Muir Trail Ranch is a resupply point, not a cool "town stop"
like VVR.

During the season Muir Trail Ranch is a horse place that is rented out for
$8,500 per week to some group that walks or helicopters in and rides horses.
That is incompatible with backpackers. I agree. I happen to go before the
horses get there and they are very friendly. Nevertheless, during the season
I would pick up my food and head to Sally Keys Lake without further ado.
