[pct-l] Butane/propane stoves

Butane/propane stoves have alot going for them. Light, no priming, simple.
They do however have some pitfalls which I have seen first hand. When they do
clog, you are done cooking, period. This happens when you add and remove the
cartidge several hundred times over months of use. Small particules of dirt or
grit can plug the orfice at the connecting point. How about using
butane/propane to weldon then ship a reliable white gas model to there for use
thu the snow sections where a stove is a must, then go back to the lighter
weight model when the stove use is less critical. Author David Green used a
butane stove on his 1977 thu-hike and could fill a chapter with war stories of
his butane stove. ( I must admit, for a weekend hike, nothing is lighter or
sweeter than these light weight little wonders! ) Monte
