I don't  really see a problem camping just beyond Campo. As soon as you
cross the road there are hundreds of places you can (stealth) camp.

I got to Campo last summer with the bus - meaning fairly late. Just hiked to
the border and back. Then a mile or so past the road. No problem.

Then I did a short day (15 miles or so). Camped again by a nice little creek
and a road just before the climb towards Morena Park. Think it was Huaes
Creek. Heard some spanish voices during the night but they didn't bother me.
