I would not advocate carrying cans of tuna on a backpacking trip; too
much weight, too smelly and there are other good protein sources that
are more convenient. I've carried a small tube of nut butter and I've
also taken smoked tofu for the first couple of days on the trail. I've
also eaten "gruel" for breakfast and then had a light lunch on the
trail; Balance bar, dried fruit and water. That seems to work o.k. if
the day isn't too demanding...
