I don't know whether they were Hefty or Zip, but I used the "zipper" one  
gallon bags in Or and Wa last year.  I used them for ditty ( so I can see  where 
it is), and some for clothes.  I found that after several uses,  especially 
under any kind of pressure, the zippers stopped zipping.  Truly  a tragedy, 
since I am ziplock-challenged and cannot get press and seal bags to  close...ever.
