[pct-l] Cell phone charging and batteries

Marge;

I can't speak for how others will/have done it, however;
I am planning on Bouncing a charger to places where there
is
an outlet in the tree (I mean somewhere like a hotel,
Resteruant, ect.) is availible.

Batteries will be shipped to places I expect that wall
outlets may be hard to get to. (Fully charged in Early
April)

After California, will see if it is a needed item, a 4 oz
of
dead weight.

It might be good for keeping contact when pay phones are
not
availible or a long line of PCT'ers are waiting for the
lone
cell phone booth...I know we are more spread out than
that...but could you imagine, getting 20 people to a
resupply point, and everyone wanting to use the only phone,
while its raining, ect....

I am really a novice at all these things, music etc and
cell phones. I
think I am suppose to carry a cell phone in case of
emergency (kids worry)
However I think I would use my phone card at every
opportunity and it
appears there is a pay phone at most places you resupply.

What I do not know is how do people recharge their phones.
It must mean
taking along the charger, that part I got and it looks much
heavier than the
phone. But you need to plug it in someplace and wait. Also
is your phone
turned to the off position until you really need to use it?
 How long will a
phone turned off hold its charge? What exactly is the
procedure for using
the cell phone on a long hike. Incidentally I do have
venison.
Cheers,
Marge (the old gal)
