This is one of the reasons that Google news is still technically a 
"beta"
service and has no paid advertising.  As soon as Google started 
generating
revenue from their news collection the copyright owners would have a
pretty good case against them since that type of use generally falls 
outside
of the "fair use" principles (education, commentary, research, etc) of
copyright law.  Notice also that all the links at news.google.com go to
the original site. They are not cached pages maintained by google.
