Dear List:
Help! I'm in a very sticky situation. I'm planning to hike the PCT this spring. I've just graduated from college and I'm living at home for a year before I go to grad school. I'm currently working as a legal assistant making $9 an hour, which helps me save for my trip, but unfortunately isn't very satisfying. I've been offered a job through the SCA (Student Conservation Association) doing trail maintenance on the Florida Trail starting January 10th and ending April 1st. I would love to take this job, but I'll only be making $40 a week, which does not help me save for the PCT, but would be an amazing experience and would definitely get me in shape for my upcoming thru-hike. So here's my quandry: should I stick with the safe job, make money and have more time to prep for the trail, (specifically, get my mail drops ready) OR should I take job I would love and believe in, yet earn next to no money and risk some prep time for the trail. I have to answer back by Wednesday afternoon, please help!
