Hi-
Darrell is approaching Burney soon, and we received a slightly different
address (different than what I'd read in Yogi's handbook) from them when we
checked before mailing his supply package. The store is under new ownership, I
believe. They asked me to be sure to use UPS instead of mailing and that I should
send to:
"Hiker Name"
c/o Burney Falls State Park Store
24900 Hwy 89
Burney, CA 96013
Also, the Belden people told me to use UPS to the address in the handbook,
which I did and it worked.
Darrell called me from Chester last night. He's only 400 miles away from
this year's goal of reaching the Oregon border! He's very proud that he has
reached the PCT halfway point. (He plans to hike Oregon and Washington next
year.) He's hiking 20-22 miles each day now and is feeling great. I'll be at
Ashland to meet him when he gets there and we are both very happy about that, you
can be sure!
He told me that he's about to face a stretch (after Old Station up to Hwy
299, I think he said) where he'll be facing a 31 mile stretch where there is
likely no water. Is this correct? Has anyone anything to report that I can tell
him when we speak tonight that might help? He's planning to just carry what
he needs, but if anyone knows that there is a stream running or other water
source, that would be great for me to let him know.
Hope everyone is having a safe & great hiking season!
Betsy
