[pct-l] white gas/resupply

Resupply- Sisters is the only one you don't need a maildrop for. You can
easily resupply there. The others you definitely need maildrops. I would be
surprised if you could get white gas anywhere but Sisters out of that list.
Maybe Shelter Cove. It was like a small, expensive 7-11.

As for sending packages:
Shelter Cove: www.sheltercoveresort.com I'll quote Yogi's PCT handbook:
"Shelter Cove accepts hiker packages w/ no holding fee. Packages are held
for 2 weeks- UPS Only!!! No outgoing mail at all. Not even letters."

Sisters: regular PO

Olallie Lake Resort (541-504-1010) is the other resupply listed in Yogi's
book, not the Olallie Ranger Station (541-630-6861). Don't know more than
that.

Hope that helps. Have fun!

Subject: [pct-l] white gas/resupply

My son and I are hiking from Highway 138 to Cascade Locks over a 23 day
period in mid-July to mid-August. I am planning to carry my MSR dragonfly
gas
stove which we used two years ago on a four-week hike on the Long Trail in
Vermont.

Three questions:

     - All things being equal, how much more fuel will we use on the
PCT in Oregon at 6-7000 ft vs the Long Trail at 2500?

     - We plan to resupply at Shelter Cove, Sisters, Ollalie Ranger
Station, and Timberline Camp. Can I get white gas at each of
those
locations?

     - Any complications on sending packages to Shelter Cove, Ollalie,
and Timberline or to the P.O. in Sisters?

Thanks!

Larry
