while reading this article:
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/170825_forestdamage27.html?searchpagefrom=1&searchdiff=3
on the problems caused by the floods last fall in Washington, I saw the
following:
"A washout on the Cascade River Road in the North Cascades National Park
will add several miles of walking and a creek crossing to reach popular
climbing destinations like Boston Basin.
A backpacking trek from the end of that road to the Stehekin River
valley will double in length to 22 miles because the road formerly used
by a park service shuttle has been obliterated."
I believe it refers to the shuttle that runs between Stehekin and the
PCT even though not knowing the area the references given don't give me
a good idea of the picture. Does anyone know about this? is that road
actually closed to traffic? is it still ok for hiking? and how far is
the PCT from Stehekin?
