[pct-l] Esbit vs HEET fuel savings
Shawn,
The cost of Esbit is 50 cents per tablet. Put another way, $60 for a 120
days worth.
You buy it all at once, up front and either mail it with your resupply pkgs,
keep it
in your drift box or a little of both. You NEVER have to search for fuel.
It's always
readily available.
The 'stove' which is just a metal folding stand cost me $7, 4 years ago. So
the total
cost of this stove and fuel for 1 PCT trip is ~$67. The stove is almost
indestructable.
(Try stepping on a Pepsi can stove)
I'm sure the cost of HEET compared to Esbit is cheaper. How much HEET is in
a
bottle and what does it cost? Anyone know? At 2 oz's a day, CO$T / (oz's /
2)
will give you the cost per usage.
I'd be curious.
