[pct-l] Up-Date on Snoqualmie Pass
Wardholm West B&B - long a traditional stop for weary through-hikers at
Snoqualmie Pass, WA - is closed and in the process of being sold.
I spoke with Peggy Ward last night. The deal is virtually done, and the new
owners will not be maintaining the place as a B&B. So much for my idea for a
third article reviewing hiker B&Bs along the PCT!
According to Yogi's book, there is a viable alternative - the Best Western
Summit Inn (435-434-6300). Quoting pages 292 and 293.....
"It's a nice hotel. Be sure to ask for the PCT hiker rate; it's about half
the regular rate. In 2003, the PCT rate was $65. Rooms have TV and phone.
Plan on staying at the Best Western. Believe me, you'll be ready to sleep
indoors when you get here. this is a very hiker-friendly hotel. In 2003, the
manager lowered the PCT rate dramatically (down to around $40) during the
week-long rainstorm. He didn't want any hikers to NOT stay just because they
couldn't afford it."
"Since the PO may be gone, the Best Western will hold hiker packages (UPS
only).

Now, if only we had some good news about the Timewise Grocery store which
lost its lease.
