[pct-l] buying bear canisters
I don't want to get into answering the first question. Check the archives
for lots of discussion on this topic.
If you decide you want a bear canister look to your favorite outfitter. Most
good outfitters have them.
Depending on hove densely you can pack your food you may get up to 10 hiker
days food in one container. Usually it is less. We try to put our canister
in a slight hollow or wedged between rocks/stumps. You don't want a bear to
roll it down the hill. We have seen many canisters with orange paint or tape
on them. We usually place the canister 25 feet +/- from our tent.
