[pct-l] re: looking for a trail partner
My thoughts are hike with some you get along with. If you're not having a good time, hike by yourself- don't be afraid of the weather or the trail. Its not nearly as scary as it seems.
I hiked with Tasha for last 1000 miles to Canada. At the beginning we got along great, too well, but by the end we didn't. I think we stuck together because the weather was getting bad (wet) and neither wanted to hike alone.
Unfortunately it just leaves you with bad memories of those sections.
Later, Tasha trashed me in her semi-fictional book.

It is very hard for committed couples or friends to
hike together for 4 plus months, never mind complete
strangers! :-)

Ain't that the truth. I met a couple in N. Cal. who had hiked together from
Mexico. You could tell she was just fed up with the whole situation, especially
with him making all the little day to day decisions. By that time here was
nothing on Earth he could do to rectify the situation. She wanted CHANGE and
that was that. And he simply couldn't let his ego go enough to let her wear the
pants of the journey at least part of the time.
I went to their slide show in Seattle and several weeks later they were a
couple no more.
