[pct-l] sequoia trees

The High Sierra Trail starts at the end of a short but beautiful drive through a large stand of Sequoia trees, ending at a trailhead called Crescent Meadow. Regardless if you reach the meadow from Visalia on state 198, up the Generals Highway, or from Fresno via state 180, you'll pass through huge stands of Sequoia trees. Both routes offer plenty of places to stop and admire one of nature's truely incredible sights. However, it's not exactly on the way for PCT hikers. The High Sierra Trail cuts over from the JMT/PCT junction at Wallace Creek, dips down into the Kern Canyon, back up through the Big Arroyo, and crosses the Great Western Divide...and another 20 miles of trail before arriving at Crescent Meadow. And there's no resupply point at the end, or at least one to recommend. The HST is a great 1-week hike, but not something to combine with your PCT hike.
