Another great one! Army Pass was originally a shepherd's pass. The trail
was built in 1892 when Troop K of the Fourth Cavalary ( a troop of black
soldiers from Georgia) was patrolling Sequoia National Park. Because Army Pass was
usually clogged with snow till late summer, New Army Pass was built in 1955.
