[pct-l] MT Whitney PCT - JMT route
I thought the JMT stayed low (ie no real climb) whereas the PCT climbs up to a ridge and then along the ridge and back down to Thousand Islands. The views from the ridge are awesome, looking across the valley you get a chance to see what Ansel Adams most famous pictures look like in real life.

You are correct. The PCT and JMT split at Reds Meadow (Devils Postpile) and
rejoin at Thousand Island Lake. I've done both. I prefer the JMT section
although you have a steep climb from the Devils Postpile. The PCT section is
a long traverse looking over towards the JMT route. You can't do both unless
you do one part twice (or do separate hikes in different years).

to go back and traverse in order to have thru-hiked the JMT?
