My name is Willie Adams and I am planning on hiking the PCT this summer
and fall beginning in Canada. Our departure time is looking to be around
the 15th of June and I am concerned about the weather in northern
Washington, and specifically the gear that it may require (i.e. snow
shoes, etc). I know that the conditions vary significantly from year to
year, but I was looking for some feed back from someone who may have been
in a similar position. Thanks a lot,
i would strongly advise against a southbound hike for this year. the preliminary reports say trail damage is immense, and from what ive seen for myself it`s looking pretty bad. starting in june before snowmelt there is zero chance of trail repair.also untill the damage is surveyed(after the snow melt)an alternate route is unlikely to be designated and when one is, it`s going to entail a lot of road walks and long detours early in the season.there are also a lot of bridges out, making some of the crossings suicidle or impossible in snowmelt season.
heres what washington trails assosiation has to say about it
