[pct-l] An Aqua Mira Question

I just read the first couple of pages and it seems like it is the chlorite
ion that killes the pathogens, but it kills them through oxidation as
opposed to chlorination. So really this may just be semantics. I'm
guessing the makers of Aqua Mira wanted to point out that the mechinism of
killing pathogens is different than that of chlorine. But they don't want
to give a chemistry lesson about what an oxidizer is so they just say its
the oxygen that kills the organisms. Not totally correct, but it gets the
point across. Anyway, all this is just acedemic and I doubt anyone really
cares about any of this so I'll stop here.

These are the important points:
- chlorine dioxide does not create unsafe biproducts (unlike chlorine and
iodine)
- chlorine dioxide works much better than chlorine and iodine when there
is organic material in the water (lots of floaties)
- Its best to follow the instructions on the bottle if you want it to work
right (don't pre-mix it)

The only problem is that its expensive.
