Let's see... Rocks: Useless Weight
Bear Can, South of Kennedy Meadows: Useless weight

My post was in response to carrying a Bear can beginning at the Pink Motel
(at Interstate 10) the beginning of section C.

And I won't get fined for not carrying one south of Inyo National forest,
and I won't see an aggressive bear either.

You can legally hike the whole PCT without a bear can if you camp in SE/KI
at sites with bear boxes, Don't camp in certain areas in INYO NF, and you
don't camp in Lyell Canyon in Yosemite, none of which is very hard to do if
you hike typical thru-hiker mileage and plan just a little bit.

The Bear Can thing is a Weekender, JMT hiker issue. Not a PCT thru hiker
issue. Either way, you wouldn't hear me saying that a bear can in the
Sierra was useless weight.

Bear can in an area with no problem bears == Useless Weight.
