[pct-l] Hiking Poles



For years I hiked without poles but saw many others hike with them and have
an easy time crossing streams, etc. And they raved at how much faster they
could go.

Well, I have tried them - and don't like them that much. In brush they get
in the way; in strong currents I don't trust them (too flimsy); sometimes
they stick in rocks; and on some rock crossings I think they will slip.
Also, I find them better on the up-hill than down. I prefer one pole to two.
On snow, though, I like the poles.

But, I suspect, that this is me and my poles.
