Jim,
1. Two. Absolutely. Stream crossing and rock hopping becomes amazingly
less problematic.
2. Spring-loaded (but I hear more people preferring _no_ shock absorption,
so it's a preference...)
3. Whatever feels the best to you in the store - lighter is better until you
lean on the pole funny and it breaks....
