By midsummer, after most hikers had already gone through, Mr
Skaggs announced that he was getting out of the hiker-hosting
business. 2004 thruhikers shouldn't expect the water faucet to be
on at his place, but try at the school. Other Listers stated they'd
gotten it from the open aquaduct about a mile beyond, though if any
LADWP personnel witnessed anyone taking water they may very well
object (fear of lawyers). Regardless, either source is, as stated in
the guidebook, the last reliable water for 16 miles until the
Cottonwood Bridge on the other side of the valley.
