Trace the problem in California back to ALL of the state politicians,
regardless of political party, who allowed the energy companies to pressure/influence
the state to deregulate the monopoly of Southern California Edison and
Pacific Gas and Electric with regard to the supply of electricty. Enron, etc.
Billions of real dollars have vanished into paper profits, then burned into
insolvancy...and the poor California citizens are left holding the bag. Both
liberal and conservative politicans bear the shame. Who were the politicians who
approved the bills? Did the people vote on referendums? I believe they
did. If there were state-wide referendums on the bills, then who is to blame?
I'm afraid it's time to suck it up. We can thank the work of the PCTA and
all of us who support the PCT that most of the trail is in Federally-protected
areas.
