[pct-l] canisters in the Southern Sierra



Dave,  Emma said that she did NOT want to re-start the canister wars ;)
The problem is that most people are not the mountain man that you are, and thus most do not take proper precautions to secure their food.  It would be impossible, as you suggest,  to "test" everyone who goes into the backcountry to see if they know what they are doing. Thus, we have bear canister regulations in certain areas to ensure that more people will be able to have the kind of encounter that Christine had.
