[pct-l] attitude shift?

HI everyone,

To me a trail angel is anyone who 'for reasons known to only him/herself'
helps a hiker out.

For example: after a long and wet day we arrived at Indian Spring Campground
(just before the Eagle Creek Trail). We spent the night there and were
getting ready to head out again, in our very wet clothes. We were slowly
getting miserable throughout the morning. A fellow camper invited us into
his large tent and gave us a hot mug of coffee, hot water for our oatmeal, a
chair, sweetgrass to burn and a pat on the back. It helped me start the day
with a smile and I have always remembered Jeff fondly.

Or what about Carolyn and Michael, who took us into their homes, only a week
before their wedding when they understood our problems in finding a place to
stay in Hood River? Carolyn drove the bus that took us to Hood River from
Cascade Locks. They were great people, who understood hiking and who did
trail maintenance in their free time.

Who says there are no trail angels in the North? What about all the
anonymous well-do'ers and the not so anonymous ones like Bob Norton in
Skykomish??
