[pct-l] digital cameras???

I'm hiking the JMT in June. Just got my permit WAAAHOO!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice on camera's. Sounds like the Olympus Sylus Zoom
(8oz) is a winner.

However, now I'm contemplating on getting a digital camera. It seems
like a digital camera will be cheaper in the long run. All the film
processing from a 3-4 week trip, not to mention the pics before and
after the trail.

Does anyone have input on this, or recommendations for LIGHT digital
cameras that take quality pics???

I've been told to get at least a 3x zoom (many are 2x) and at least 3
megapixals.

What is the overall opinion on the worth of the camera vs its weight?
If I show the ranger my digital cam , in lieu of my cannister, will
he/she say cheese or freeze??

Seems to me a once in a lifetime trip (hopefully not just once) would
justify the weight. Unitil now we have used disposables, but you have
to have the right speed for the right situation which is a pain.

Thanks,

Nate
