Nate,
One consideration is what are you going to do with the pictures. Digital pi=
ctures (at the resolution you are most likely to use) look fine online and =
probably at 4x6 inches.
If you start blowing them up they will get grainier and grainer. We used an=
Olympus zoom point-and-shoot and it took great pictures. In fact Marcia bl=
ew one up to 14x20 inches and framed it. It looks great. The photo lab said=
we could have blown it up one size bigger. I know that my digital camera's=
 pictures would never survive that.

Thanks for the advice on camera's. Sounds like the Olympus Sylus Zoom
(8oz) is a winner.

However, now I'm contemplating on getting a digital camera. It seems
like a digital camera will be cheaper in the long run. All the film
processing from a 3-4 week trip, not to mention the pics before and
after the trail.

Does anyone have input on this, or recommendations for LIGHT digital
cameras that take quality pics???

I've been told to get at least a 3x zoom (many are 2x) and at least 3
megapixals.

What is the overall opinion on the worth of the camera vs its weight?
If I show the ranger my digital cam , in lieu of my cannister, will
he/she say cheese or freeze??

Seems to me a once in a lifetime trip (hopefully not just once) would
justify the weight. Unitil now we have used disposables, but you have
to have the right speed for the right situation which is a pain.

Thanks,

Nate
