Last year, Jerry Smith, used his old Kelty Tioga external frame pack.  The 
external frame pack is almost dead, but not quite.  For those of you on a 
tight budget, very good external packs are cheap.  

But then the Camp Trails Velocity and Torrid are two internal frame packs 
that cost $80, weigh 70 and 84 ounces respectively and both sport more than 
4800 cubic inches.
