News reports indicate that the butterfly swarms should diminish by the
weekend, although there will probably still be quite a few. They migrate
from Mexico to the Pacific Northwest this time of year, and with the weather
there are many more this year.

I was asked off list if these were legal or illegal immigrant butterflies.
As the various law enforcement agencies quoted in the local newspapers made
no mention of enforcement action against the butterflies, they appear to be
legal immigrants. Apparently they are US citizens who winter in Mexico.
