Karen,
It's great to see you on the pct-l. Between the last two ALDHA east
Gatherings, sitting in on your workshops, reading several of your books and
watching the How to Hike the PCT video, no less than six times, I've
received a wealth of information from you and Dan on long distance hiking and
the PCT in particular. Thanks so much!
On resupplying in the Sierras. I was mixed about carrying 10 to 12 days
worth of food from KM to Vermillion Valley or as to whether it would be worth
the extra effort and miles to resupply along the way.
Since I had already packed several days of food and 8 liters of water in an
earlier section, weight wasn't so much the issue, as just getting out there,
seeing and experiencing as much as I possibly could, side trails and towns
included.
However, as you said, weight diminishes everyday and doing the long stretch
from KM to VVR is clearly an option with less logistical hassle, not to
mention saving some money.
Sly
