Chris Bailey, who used to be on the list and thruhiked in 98, put together
a very detailed account of what was available in various places (they
resuppied by buying groceries). this is in the archives, and should still
be available at:
http://www.skydivenet.com/pcthike/tips.htm
You should also get the town guide from the PCTA.
BTW, I STRONGLY recommend that you buy the data book. I used it as much or
more than the trail guide - mainly because at a glance you know what
elevation you're at and the mileage gain and elevation gain to
whateverpoint. Otherwise you have to find and add up all the figures in
the book and read all the text.
