[pct-l] Re: Sleeping Bags

I want to throw in my 2 cents about sleeping bags and gear in general.
There's really no reason to think one has to spend $500 or $600 dollars on a
sleeping bag or a tent or any other new gear. A common mistake people make
when planning a trip that's the magnitude of the PCT is to focus on gear.
The assumption is that using this bag vs. that bag will somehow increase the
likelihood that one will make it to Canada. In '98 I used a 16-year old REI
internal frame pack and a 12-year old LL Bean down bag. Both are still in
fine shape and have many more years of use left in them. Focus on what's
important, food, food, food!
