Hi all. I'm planning on hiking the JMT north to south this August. I've
never had a bear get my food using counter-balancing in the Sierras, but often
I spend a lot of time locating the proper tree and getting the line were I
want it. I know that PCT thru hikers may not have a problem because of
paasing through early in the season, but has anybody out there lost their food
using a stealth camping strategy. I would not sleep with my food but continue
to hang food, perhaps with less caution if I'm well off the trail. The
alternative of using a bear can is a bummer as I love going light. Bob R.
