Does the PCT route still go across the Anza Indian Reservation? In the old
days, the Thomos Winnett trail guide showed it did and nearly got us shot. I
guess the Anza tribe and locals were having a fewd so when we got to the
reservation border there were no trepassing signs all over the place. We
thought the PCT had some kind of easement so we crossed the gate and started
walking North thu the Reservation. About a quarter mile later, 2 pickup trucks
with the biggest Indians I ever saw with 30-30 rifles politely said, "You
fella,s might want to go back and walk around . We thanked him and said
"Sounds good to us" and walked as quickly as possible back to the gate. It
seemed like it might have been a six mile detour. Does this still happen down
there or is the trail rerouted? Also, do any of you 1977 hikers remember who
found the body in a restroom at gas station in Cabazon?
