The booties I've seen used that were most effective were the rubber
ones. I think Cabela's is on the web and has them. If you can't find
them on the web, check out the free catalogs that can be ordered in the
backs of hunting magazines. The tops are secured with cotton first aid
tape or duct tape. These booties were used for a day of chukar hunting
across extremely rough volcanic terrain, much rougher than trail
hiking. However, I've only seen them used for a day at a time, never
multiple days in a row.
