Re: [pct-l] ZIP stoves

I'm curious to understand how an enclosed grill located in the backcountry
is the equivalent of my MSR Whisperlite in definition, and policy during
times of fire danger. Typically, the first step taken when there's a strong
risk of fire is to eliminate the use of all open campfires, and limit cooking
to a backcountry stove. Under the definition we've just heard however, it
would sound like, since a grilled fire and an MSR are the equivalent, we could
do either, cook on either, during a time of fire danger. This runs contrary
to my understanding that we also CANNOT build fires (with the grill, we're
either gathering wood as usual or using coals and lighter fluid) during these
risk periods. Is it that a grill fire is not an "open" fire but a "contained"
one that allows its inclusion? Bottom line, grill fire bad, IMO, when fire
danger high. Brick?
