[pct-l] Brian and Martina

For those following the Scots,

They called last night from Independence. They have been hit by two snow
storms so far, neither one dropping much on them, however, they happened to
be relatively low when both hit. It has been freezing at night since they
crossed Donahue Pass. Muir Pass has about one and a half feet but other
than that it isn't slowing them down too much. Still no problem with
bears, even in the Kearsarge Pass / Bubbs Creek area. They are worried
about finding a ride back up to Onion Valley as the snow has scared
everyone out of the Sierra's and they don't see any cars heading that way.

If you live in Independence, and see a couple of scraggly looking
thru-hikers hanging around then how about giving them a lift up to Onion
Valley?

They anticipate getting to Walker Pass (finishing) by next monday, the 12th.

They came into Vermillion with the news that Brian Sweet had come through
about a week before. What a surprize then when he greeted them off of the
boat! He has been working there and waiting for them to catch up after
finishing at Kennedy Mdws.

They plan to hitchike out to Bakersfield (I'm trying to talk, Paul Hacker
'77 into picking them up), rent a car and drive back to my house in
Southern Calif. and then fly back to Scotland on the 22nd!

Anyone wanting to send them a message may do so through me. Let's hear it
for them when they finish!

Take long strides!
