[pct-l] Ultimate PCT Website Wishlist (a living document)

Much of this is possible with mapserver
(http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/) and a postgis database (that's
postgres with the postgis spatial extension). You would store all the
data in the database with the coordinates stored as geometry data
types, mostly as points. The trail could also be stored in the
database as a vector linestring. It could also be stored as a
shapefile for map display but keeping it in the database allows you to
calculate distances with a simple sql query. You could also use Ka-map
to give the map a google maps type dragable navigation
(http://www.ominiverdi.org/ka-map/ka-map/htdocs/)
