[pct-l] Ultimate PCT Website Wishlist (a living document)

Not necessarily in priority order:

1) Clickable map interface
2) Click on the map and the closest PCT mile marker (NOBO/SOBO) is
indicated (with section designation) and elevation
3) Click on the map and a photo(s) of the location appears (panos would
be perfect)
4) Click on the map and closest water source is indicated (SoCal)
5) Click on the map and a 10 mile section (on either side of the clicked
location) is profiled to show elevation gain/loss 6) Click on the map
and Long/Lat/UTM coordinate is indicated (closest point on the PCT to
clicked location)
7) Click two points and the route of the PCT between these two points is
highlighted with mileage between the two points indicated and GPS
waypoints of this route are downloadable.
8) Click on two points and a link to the USGS 7.5' topo maps is shown
where the map can be downloaded.
9) Click on the map and the closest resupply source is indicated

I think these must be the minimum capability of the ultimate PCT
website. All this info is available from many different sources already.
What would make this the ultimate site, is to have all this in one,
user-friendly, map interface.

Additional features:

10) Links to PCTA.org, PCT-L, AsABat's water page, ADZPCTKO web site,
Topozone.com and Casil (and any other important PCT data sites)
11) Some form of communication bulletin board for thru-hikers to log in
and post a message and maybe a link which highlights the location on the
map interface where they currently are at.

Of course, there can be lots of other stuff that can be added. The site
must be clean - easy to understand and efficient with bandwidth.
