[pct-l] Resupply and Permits

I talked to one of the people at Ollalie resort last year on my hike, and since
they were having delivery problems with the forest service, they "were"
planning on recieving mail drops themselves. As per Yogi post, I must
cocur... Verify that they do receive packages before sending. I sent mine 4
weeks in advance (ok, my support did it for me), and got mine, although
squatch and a couple of others did not get there packages while I was
there...
I suggest since it is a unknown, if your planning on doing a complete
resupply by mail before you leave, Timberline and Big Lake youth camp
may be good alternatives...
I talked to Timberline lodge and they
were accepting packages, and as per a conversion with them, they were
NOT charging for packages as of last year. They had to talk to a level of
managment to be sure, but the answer I got last year was they were NOT going to charge us for packages.
If timberline doesn't work for you, also not Big Lake Youth camp also recieves packages...
That covers your two alternatives before and after Ollalie lake...

I've two unrelated questions which one or more of you folks can hopefully answer. The first is this: what's up with the Olallie Lake Resort resupply point? I contacted the Estacada ranger station to confirm that they were still willing to receive and deliver parcels to the resort. A gal at the station told me that she thought that they would not be doing that this year. If this is in fact the case, does anyone know of another way to get packages to the resort? At present I am assuming that the resort still accepts packages although my attempts to contact the management have so far been unsuccessful. My second question is this: For section H (Mt. Whitney to Tuolumne Meadows) do I need a seperate permit issued by the NPS in addition to my PCTA thru-hiker's permit? The guide book seems a tad ambiguous on this point. Much obliged for any info.
