OK, I don't know if this info is widely known yet but Squeaky's plan for
next summer is a sub-40 day AT speed record hike. He seems to be going
about it extremely efficiently. He will have 2 separate leap-frogging
support teams, each with their own vehicle, so that one can always be ahead
of him. My understanding at this point is that he will have several packs
and a support team will simply hand him one, "fully loaded," as he arrives
and off he goes.
The current length of the AT is 2,174.6 miles. If Squeaky tries for a
sub-40 day record and makes it, say, in 39.5 days, then that would be an
AVERAGE of 55.05 miles per day. Is that humanly possible? We will see next
summer.
He's looking for sponsorship. If anyone has any helpful suggestions on
that, contact him at mathazley@hotmail.com
