We make a point of picking up all the trash we find and hauling it out 
on the llamas.  Judging from the number of damaged and discarded  
platypus bags (about a dozen) we have found over the years, I would not 
use them.  Soda bottles are cheap and durable and replaceable at supply 
point stores.
YMMV.
I'm off to watch "Still Walking".  I can't think of a better way to 
spend a Friday night.
