Ray wears silk boxers. 
He also wears old poly-cotton boxers that are so old the cotton is 
essentially gone.  At this stage in their life cycle they become almost 
transparent.
He reports no chafing, ever.
Both of us have experienced chafing between the knees from wearing nylon 
pants on hot days.  Any recommendations for that? I call it "dirt 
rash".    I'd rather wear the pants and have the dirt rash than have 
ticks, bug bites, poison oak or scratches from chapparal.  In all my 
years of hiking I've had just one tick.
