Man, if hitching 10 or so times in 5 or 6 months truly detracts from my 2680
mile wilderness lifestyle then I must be developing a really short attention
span.....   ;o)

Hitching detracts from the wilderness lifestyle long distance hiking
provides, either extends the overall schedule of the trip or increases the
required daily mileage, might bring you new friends or the end of a gun, may
get  you where you want to go...or not.
