[pct-l] ULA Whereabouts

I thought I'd chime in about my whereabouts since it
seems to be a topic of discussion...

I am in the shop 7 days a week most of the year. I
take three breaks...one weekend for the KOP, another
possibly for Traildays, and then a long break for
month or two to go hiking to try to avoid insanity.
Basically I have resigned my existence to being a pack
martyr.

When you call and the fax beeps, it is because my
regular phone line rolls over to the fax line in hopes
that I will have a moment to politely ask Customer X
to hold, so I can then politely ask Customer Y to
hold. On a side note, if anyone on PCT-L has good gear
knowledge, the ability to have two conversations at
once on the telephone, and can answer 100 e-mails a
day, please submit your resume ASAP. The pay is lousy,
the hours long, but at least you get to share in
people's enthusiasm for hiking. Lastly, I do not take
any $$$ until the product is boxed and ready to ship.

As for my Fridays and three day weekends, I am here. I
am sewing. I am wading through e-mails. My apologies
if it takes me a little bit longer than you'd like to
confirm your order, reply to an e-mail, or to return
your call. I am doing what I can.

In defense of the "small guy" if you enjoy the custom
nature of our products, the intimate and first hand
knowledge of the equipment and its use, surely you
could cut us a little slack in regard to the "pain"
involved with general business delays.

I do not intentionally run my business to be vague in
regard to delivery. I have a best case scenario and
that is what I shoot for daily. Despite not having
much of one, Life has a funny way of getting in the
way sometimes. I do what I can.

I would recommend looking at the "pain" as good
preparation in dealing with the inconveniences of
Mother Nature. She does not always deliver sunny skies
on summit day, nor water when you are thirsty. Better
get used to it.

Lastly, in an attempt to provide clarity in regard to
my shop space, it was a 3 car garage...now it is an
insulated, heated, fully powered steel structure.
Unfortunately that description would not fit on my
label.

Hike your own hike, do your own thing, and buy gear
wherever the hell you want,

Brian
